Cargo

{Jacket: Daniel Rainn (TJ Maxx) | Jeans: Free People | Booties: DV | Bracelet: DY}

I love to wear black, there's no secret about that. I was really excited to find this amazing cargo jacket from TJ Maxx - great find, and also lightens up the black look!

The zipper detail is perfect, and really gives an edgy feel to this piece. I also added a simple braid to my hair. Sometimes, it's nice to just braid back your bangs and go for the day.

Want to try this braid to your hair? I have step-by-step instructions here.

Bad Hair Day

Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, prepare, stand in front of the mirror with squinted morning tired eyes...we are just...well bound to have a bad hair day! There's something in the way we wake up those mornings that we just can't shake the hair problems and the nest that has settled into our hair the night before!
So.. what do you do? Wear a hat? Curl up in a ball? Stay home?

No!

I have found something that works. I repeat... something actually works!

So, I'll cut to the chase. I take showers at night, and often straighten my hair. I wake up in the morning with a terrible bump in my hair the height of a skyscraper. Even though I try to straighten it out, it still decides to stick around. Without taking a shower again, heres what you can do!

I bought one of the spray bottles above from The Container Store (you can also get spray bottles from your local drug store.) I fill it up with water and spray my roots. Seems simple right? Then I will re-dry my roots, and perfect them with a round brush!
Its that easy. I think that this is great to do on the bottom of the hair as well, to smooth out the ends!

And thats it. $1 container bottle, free tap water, and you have yourself a hairdo quick fix!

The "Bailey" Braid

This summer thanks to my bestie Bailey, I learned how to french braid. I love the smooth, yet edgy look that braids create, and the french braid is so classic and a cute! I had been wanting to learn how to french braid for a long time, but never knew how until Bailey taught me. Although not everyone has the luxury of an expert french braid friend like I do, I decided to post up a hair tutorial to show how its done!

{ Start with your hair a little messy and down }

{Separate the hair into a front section. Clip the rest of the hair back and out of the way.}

{Separate three front pieces and begin braiding normally. Each time you go to braid, draw a piece of hair not being used in your section and add it to the piece you are going to braid. I always think "braid, grab new, braid, grab new...and so on. Grab hair from the front and back.}

{See above, I am taking a new piece that is not being used and adding it to the piece I am going to braid.}

{Halfway there!}

{Secure your braid with a small hair tie.}

{Tightly wrap the braid around the side of your head, and secure with bobby pins.}

{Finished product!}

What are some of your favorite braid styles?
